EU-Coronavirus Response - New funding for innovative and rapid health-related approaches that respond to COVID-19 and deliver quick results relevant to society and a higher level of preparedness of health systems

As part of the Global Response for Coronavirus, the European Commission has launched a 122 million Euros fund within the scope of the ERAvs Corona Action Plan to support the development of research with a focus on preparedness and capacity improvement to cover behavioral, socioeconomic, technological, medical and clinical aspects, among others, that help promote an understanding of how society can better handle the pandemic challenges. International cooperation is strongly recommended and research projects should be based on existing solutions and could focus on critical social factors of the population, such as age, social origin, and gender. The deadline for submissions is June 11th, 2020. These are the five open calls on the coronavirus:

  1. Repurposing of manufacturing for vital medical supplies and equipment SC1-PHE-CORONAVIRUS-2020-2A – Innovation action (IA) 
  2. Medical technologies, Digital tools, and Artificial Intelligence analytics to improve surveillance and care at high Technology Readiness Levels SC1-PHE-CORONAVIRUS-2020-2B – Innovation action (IA) 
  3. Behavioural, social and economic impacts of the outbreak responses SC1-PHE-CORONAVIRUS-2020-2C – Research & Innovation Action (RIA) 
  4. Pan-European COVID-19 cohorts SC1-PHE-CORONAVIRUS-2020-2D – Research & Innovation Action (RIA) 
  5. Networking of existing EU and international cohorts of relevance to COVI
  6. D-19 SC1-PHE-CORONAVIRUS-2020-2E – Coordination and Support Action (CSA)
